Moodle ends partnership with Blackboard

Having been at the former CEO of Moodlerooms, I am deeply saddened by this news. I have worked with Martin Dougiamas during my tenure at MR and have found Martin to be one the extraordinary bright lights in the Ed Tech industry. The Moodle community, led by Martin’s pioneering of teaching and learning open source solutions, continues to be a major force that has provided global access and equity to education for all. As one who had led this transaction, I had been hopeful that Blackboard could balance and navigate the duality of two very different business models in a manner that could support and accelerate the Moodle community at large. It is apparent and unfortunate for all that this did not materialize. I wish Martin and the Moodle Community all the best in continuing to grow this valuable resource.
